Rheanna Nicole Zotto, also known as rhe, is a Queens-based singer/songwriter and composer. Her upcoming debut EP "Post-Mortem Postcards" is a folk/indie pop record set for release in December of 2024. She currently performs her original music across the five boroughs of NYC as a featured musician at various venues, including off-broadway at the iconic Triad Theatre.
In the past, Rheanna has performed professionally in musical theatre and operatic productions across the country and on stages abroad with various companies.
She is the 2024 Silver Award winner of the International Global Young Musicians Competition based in Gdansk, Poland in the categories of both operatic vocal performance as well as musical theatre vocal performance.
Music Therapy
Rheanna is a board-certified music therapist practicing at the International Institute for the Brain (iBrain) in New York City.
She completed her Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) certification in May of 2024.
She received her master's degree in music therapy at Montclair State University's John J Cali School of Music in May of 2023 & completed her preprofessional internship at the Louis Armstrong Department of Music Therapy at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. There, she specialized in pediatrics and served as the Visiting Artist Series coordinator, while receiving advanced training hours through their Music & Health Clinic program and a certificate in RBL (Rhythm, Breath & Lullaby, Tier 1 & 2) .
Music Education
She holds a NYS teaching certification as a music educator (K-12), and has taught children ranging in age from 3-K to the 12th grade in early childhood, classroom and private lesson settings. She holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education with a Vocal Performance Concentration through Adelphi University's Honors College, Her senior thesis “The Pedagogical Implications of Repertoire Quality and Choice: A Case Study of an Undergraduate Soprano” was selected for poster presentation at the 2019 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Winter Conference in Rochester, NY.
Her teaching philosophy centers around creating hands-on, tactical learning experiences infused with social emotional learning in a culturally responsive environment that caters to the specific needs of each student. She is a certified Music Together teacher with the Treble Time Music Studio.
Poetry & Art
In her spare time, Rheanna enjoys writing poetry (her published works can be found HERE) and creating collage art.
She also enjoys reviewing books & films, and spending time with her cats, Tex and Dee.
